They are lots of dogs with wrinkles, dog breeds might look fairly similar but believe me they are not, they all have distinctive features that separate and distinguish them from each other. These distinguishing features could be just a rare color, wrinkles, how they bark, shapes, sizes, color, or even the shape of the ears.

You will agree with me that dogs with wrinkled skin have this special charm and character and look so adorable which is what fascinated me to write about them today.

Wrinkled dogs are adorable and require special care and extra washing and drying out to prevent bacterial infections and to get rid of the dirt in their wrinkles.

1. Bloodhound

Bloodhounds have a wrinkled faces with loose flapping lips. They can get to over 24-27 Inches in height and can weigh over 70-110 pounds. They are often used as tracking dogs to search for missing persons or for hunting to catch good prey because of their intense sense of smell.

This intense sense of smell can be a little annoying when they are going on a normal walk across the block because they tend to catch a scent and want to follow it. It is important to watch them, better to put them on a leash while going on a walk with them.

2. Shar-pei

In ancient times, shar-pei was believed to be peasant dogs, mostly because farmers used this breed of dog for hunting, herding, and also as guard dogs and these dogs are very intelligent and have savage strength. Shar-pei tends to be overprotective and domineering and does not associate well with strangers except they are exposed to them from a young age. Their wrinkled skin, head, body, and regal appearance distinguish the shar-pei. They can grow to the height of 20 inches and can weigh as much as 60 pounds.

3. Pug

Pugs have wrinkled faces and expressive eyes that give them a comic and adorable look. Their curled tails are always wagging. They can get to 13 inches in height and weigh over 18 pounds.

4. Neapolitan Mastiff

This fierce-looking dog was actually bred to be intimidating to people, as it was used in battles in ancient times of war to intimidate enemy soldiers. You can not help but take a step back when you first encounter this dog because of its huge frame, big head, and wrinkled oversized folds. But to the people that are close to this breed of dog, the dog is very gentle, kind, and overprotective of them. Its average height is between the range of 24-31 inches and the average weight is about 120-150 pounds.

5. Dogue de Bourdeaux

Popularly called the French mastiff because of its similarity to the Neopolitan mastiff. This dog is famous for its intimidating looks, brutal strength, and protective nature. It has a wrinkled face with short ears and soulful eyes. The dog can grow to 26 inches in height and can weigh up to 130 pounds.

6. French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is included in this list because of its wrinkled face and forehead. They are mostly used as security dogs because they have sharp hearing and can dictate where a sound is coming from easily. French Bulldogs make the perfect pet because they do not require many outdoor activities to keep fit(a mile walk is enough for them in a day) and are generally quiet.

7. English Bulldog

This breed of dog has a wrinkled face, a big head, with a stocky body which adds to their wrinkly appearance. They are believed to have originated in England around the 13th century and they are naturally very friendly and sweet. They were used previously to scare bulls hence the name but they make nice companions to humans now. They can grow to 15 inches tall, and weigh up to 55 pounds.

8. BullMastiff

This dog is a crossbreed between the Bulldog and Mastiff. They have wrinkles on their faces and the back of their neck. As a crossbreed of Bulldog, the Bullmastiff has the Bulldog characteristics of being watchful, alert and they have little resemblance to Bulldog like a mastiff, they can weigh over 130 pounds but they are lovely creatures.

9. Basset Hound

This breed of dog is commonly known for its tracking ability. They can follow a scent for miles. They have a calm ardor around them and they have a curious look. They are relatively short with a height of 10 inches but weigh over 65 pounds.

10. Pekingese

Pekingese have wrinkles on their face and are known for their lion-like look because of their long mane which is around their neck. They can get to 9 inches in height and weigh up to 15 pounds.
