Ovulation Period; How Could a Woman Know That She was Ovulating

What is the ovulation period? how could a woman know that she is/was ovulating? These and more are the kinds of questions this article is set to answer. In any event, where this is your first time hearing the word ovulation period, it is the discharge of matured eggs from any ovary in the female reproductive system.

The ovulation period usually takes place on monthly basis, at this particular period, a woman is very fertile and the chances of getting pregnant are high.

 

When do you Ovulate?

It is natural for any woman that has not approached menopause to ovulate, ovulation occurs as part of a woman’s menstrual cycle usually at the average of every 14  to 28 days of their menstrual cycle marking from the very first day of their menstrual flow to the first day of the next menstrual flow.

It has been proved that a woman could be pregnant from intercourse beginning from 2 days before her ovulation day and 2 days after her ovulation day. in summary, a woman has a chance of becoming pregnant approximately within 5 days of her monthly cycle.

How Could a Woman Know That She was Ovulating

1. Mid-cycle cramp or pain:

The release of prostaglandin which is observed during the release of the egg from the ovary induces mild abdominal pain. Some sensitive women could notice such pain about thin mid-cycle.

2. Slight increase in body temperature:

A hormone called progesterone that is released immediately after the ovulation has a thermogenic effect, that it can increase the body temperature (hotness) by 0.50c – 1.00c

3. Changes in cervical or vaginal secretion:

Before and after ovulation, the cervical or vaginal secretion or discharge is usually thick and gummy (sticky).

However, during ovulation, this sticky secretion becomes slippery and slimy in nature. A woman who examines her virginal discharge daily would notice this unique change which signifies that ovulation has occurred.

Example: If your period started Wed. 2nd Sept. 2020, A little bit fertile Sat. 12th Sept. 2020, fertile Sun. 13th Sept. 2020, very fertile Mon. 14th Sept. 2020. Time to ovulate Tue. 15th Sept. 2020, End cycle Tue. 29th Sept. 2020.

Note: By 1st or 2nd of Oct., 2020, no period, maybe you are pregnant, go for a pregnancy test.
