Step 1: Identifying the Pest

First, it’s important to identify the pest you’re battling with, the carpenter is one of the largest ant species in the US typically between 1/4 to 3/4 inch long.

They can range in colors, but good tell is the number of their body segments. Ants have three segments where termites only have two.

The carpenter ants are enormous ants easily found in bushy and forested regions of the world. This pest will pierce through any wood just to establish its nests. They are mostly found in dead, and damp wood, it also serves as their food.


Step 2: Inspect for Signs of Carpenter Ants

The next step is to inspect your property for signs of carpenter and activity. Check woody areas that hold moisture such as windows and door frames areas.

Check plumbing under kitchen and bathroom sinks wooden structures and any collections of wet or deadwood.

Also, check for wood debris, inspect your tunnels for any damaged wood that will have smooth galleries and openings for any ant trails and activity.


Step 3: Carpenter Ants Control

Using Ficam:

You can control carpenter ants using Ficam. This is a granular bait that can be used with a duster for easy application. Apply Ficam near sinks, or drains around appliances along walls or around, bathroom fixtures.

Using FiPro Foaming Aerosol:

Apply, FiPro foaming aerosol to any cracks crevices, and wall voids. This is a non-repellent foam, so the ants will unknowingly come into contact with it.

Returned to the colony and contaminate others, apply FiPro around windows, doors, plumbing under sinks or into walls.

Using Puff D Insecticide Bulb Duster:

You can also Puff D insecticidal duster like a defense. Dust and avoids treating outside with a non-repellent insecticide like Dominion L or Taurus SC.

Mix it with water following label instructions in a pump sprayer, create a barrier around your home or business by spraying 2-3 feet up the wall and 2-3 feet out.

Also, spray around windows doors around eaves, entry points, or where pipes penetrate the wall. You can also spread and spot infested areas with Puff D.

Carpenter ants can be around the property, ensure you treat any cracks or crevices that you have found with FiPro foam.


Step 4: Carpenter Ants Prevention

Finally, preventing any pest you’re controlling is the last step you have to attempt to ensure effective pest control.

  • Prevent carpenter ants from returning by removing any wood, debris from your property
  • Trim vegetation back from the home or building
  • Get rid of stacked firewood as far away as you can from your property
  • You can also use Bora-care insecticide to prevent carpenter ants.

Carpenter ants are vulnerable to the prevention steps listed above. Carrying out prevention measures will reduce infestations, ensuring a pest-free environment.
