How To Use Optigard Cockroach Gel Bait Insecticide
- Utilizing water and gentle soap, thoroughly clean and sterilize the areas that will be treated. Roaches will avoid eating the bait if treated with a household cleaning or detergent.
- Take the cover off the bait applicator and set it aside.
- Put a dot the size of a pea every three feet across the area that is being treated.
- Let the bait do what it’s supposed to do. It is in your best interest for the cockroaches to consume the bait so that they can take it back to the nest and infect as many other cockroaches as they can.
It is recommended that each bait spot include approximately 0.25 to 0.50 grams of product (a spot with a diameter of roughly 3 mm, or 1/8 inch, should equal 0.25 grams, while a spot with a diameter of approximately 6 mm, or 1/4 inch, should equal 0.50 grams).
Additionally, bait can be applied in the form of a bead that is roughly 1/8 of an inch thick and roughly 2 inches long.
Cracks, crevices, or voids should have spots or beads inserted into them. These should be placed in or near corners or other areas where cockroaches feed.
Control will be achieved more quickly with a more significant number of smaller placements as opposed to a smaller number of larger locations, especially for German cockroaches.

Only crack and crevice treatments may be used in food and/or feed portions of establishments that handle either.

When using a syringe applicator or bait injector, place Optigard Cockroach Gel Bait in cracks, crevices, and other empty spaces where cockroaches are known to congregate. The intensity of the infestation determines the frequency of applications:
- One to two spots are recommended for every square yard (about 9 square feet) to control a light cockroach infestation.
- Two to four spots are recommended for every square yard (about 9 square feet) of the treatment area for significant cockroach infestations or for controlling larger cockroaches.
Each bait spot should have a weight equivalent to between 0.25 and 0.50 grams of product (a spot about 3 mm or 1/8 inch in diameter equals 0.25 grams of product, and a spot about 6 mm or 1/4 inch in diameter = 0.50 grams of product).
Beads of bait, about 1/8 inch thick and 2 inches long, can also be used. Put spots or beads into crevices or spaces near cockroach harborage or aggregation zones, like corners or foraging hotspots.
